On our recent trip to LC we meant to stop by another coffee shop, which is no longer there, so we came to this one. The weather was perfect for sitting outside on the quite patio in the shade. I have to admit the chai latte I got here was the best I've ever had, and I drink a lot of chai. Syd got a caramel latte and said it was pretty good. I liked it so much I wanted to go back the next morning...which we did. The second day we got food. Neither of us were too impressed with our meals. I got what was listed as a 'chicken wrap.' The so called 'wrap' turned out to be some grilled concoction of chicken (I hope it was chicken. Maybe organic? It was dark brown and had a strange texture) in a funky sauce. I didn't eat it. The salad came with a dressing full of dried herbs, that looked and smelled delicious. Key word here is looked. In taste, it left a lot to be desired. Syd got a breakfast sandwich, that he looked at funny... However, the drinks were stellar again on our second trip. The gift shop is quite eclectic, and fun. I purchased a pair of green turquoise earrings for my aunt for xmas, and a shirt for my kiddo. On a side note, I loved the photos by Ron Schmidt all around the coffee shop and store. I'd definitely stop by for a drink, but I would suggest lunch or dinner elsewhere.

I have stopped by this coffee shop/ gift store a couple times and I love being able to sit outside with out dripping with sweat. The outdoor patio has nice shaded areas and ceiling fans AND you can bring your dog ! I have only been here for breakfast so far and I like their pastries, I think they are way better than The Bean's. I recommend the pineapple coconut cake and the scones aren't bad either. my only complaint is the brewed coffee ... I have tried it twice, one was the dark blend and it was a bit weak for my tastes, if you like strong coffee (starbucks kind) you are better off ordering an espresso drink.

This place is awesome! The atmosphere is always great and friendly! The service is exceptionally good. My favorite thing to get is the Pesto Panini with a side salad...for you pesto lovers it is soooo good and tastey. Also they have great coffee and teas...I'm usually picky with my chai tea...but SW hits it spot on every time. Dirty Chai Teas are also very good! Overall, great experience every time!

This store is advertised in Dog Cruces Magazine and on DogCruces.com as a place where you can take your dog. That is a lie. While trying to order coffee at Spirit Winds today (6-27-13) an employee informed me that my dog, Champ, and I were not allowed on the premises as he is not a service dog. I entered the store briefly with Champ, who is a small, non-threatening corgi, to order coffee and food. I did not want to tie him up outside to a chair alone in the late morning sun. Champ nor I did anything to warrant being asked to leave. The employee told me that I could not order coffee to go, or sit outside as long as my dog was there. This is not a dog friendly establishment. After spending hundreds of dollars on coffee at Spirit Winds since moving to Las Cruces in January, I will not go there again. If you have a dog, I also advise you to spend your money elsewhere.

I love it here! It's a nice place to come by and just have a semi quiet little retreat. The gift shop is a cute place to find a nice original gift. It looks like you put WAY more thought into it than you did. It's also a good place to kill time. I think they still sell Cd's here! Stop by for a beverage and a walk around the gift shop. You won't be sorry!

I lived in Las Cruces for several years in the late 90s, but moved not long after Spirit Winds opened. When I found myself passing through Las Cruces mid-morning on a recent trip, I knew exactly where I would stop for a cup of coffee and some breakfast. Spirit Winds was even better than I remembered it. The staff was very friendly. I had a cup of coffee, and a delicious fruit, yogurt, and granola bowl. The porch was shaded and cool and was the perfect area for enjoying my breakfast. I had some time to spare and I cannot pass up a gift shop, so I browsed for a while. The store has a lot of nice items at very reasonable prices. At the time I was there, there was an abundance of Star Wars items -- C3PO kaleidoscopes, Darth Vader handbags from Lounge Fly -- all things that made this nerd girl swoon. There was also a lot of unique jewelry, scarves and other gifts. I left wishing that I still lived around the corner from this amazing place. I'll definitely be back on future trips!

They make the most wonderful (Read Here: f'ing awesome) black bean burger. It is so good. Do not deny yourself be you vegetarian or omnivore dilemma. Go for the burger alone. We always get it to go because sometimes a burger is so good you can't eat it in public because it's too hard to eat like a civilized person. The pesto pasta salad is also fantastic.

The coffee is good and you can also get a good pot of tea. The owner is present a lot of the time and there are interesting people, a good gift shop, and free wifi on premises. If you pay with a card be sure to tell them to add a dollar before they swipe so you can tip the baristas.

You know that quintessential coffee shop experience you had the first time you pretended to be reading Kerouac to impress that pensive girl with the ginormous coffee cup? Well, if you're still going searching coffee house after coffee house trying to get back to that place, go here.

My husband and I found Spirit Winds after searching for non-Starbucks coffee in Las Cruces. The atmosphere was fun and we loved that there was a cute shop to browse while we drank our coffee. However, the coffee itself wasn't amazing and it tasted as if the barista left the shots out too long and they became bitter. Being that our main reason for visiting was coffee, we probably won't be back for the same need. However, I'm open to trying their food in the future.

We went to this cafe several times while visiting my girlfriends old friends and neighbors in Mesilla. It was really great. The internet seemed fine the whole time, the pastry selection was pretty good (green chile scones and some really nice croissant flavors), and the coffee drinks were good. The bathroom was fine (you know... locked, had soap, etc), and there was plenty of patio seating to enjoy the awesome weather out there. The gift shop was really cool, too.

Another entry in my list of cafes for tea drinkers. My two cafe criteria: A. Tea B. As a third place First, about the tea. 1. Do they serve pots/something larger than a cup? Yes! Insulated pots for $2. 2. Do they know how to brew it? All teas are brewed with the same temperature water (usually from the milk steamer). That said, it's cooler than boiling, so the green teas come out fine. It's not a terribly big deal, because.... 3. Do they have more than the pedestrian, bagged teas from some big manufacturer? No. They have lots of bagged teas: greens, herbals, reds, blacks, etc. Some are fine if unremarkable. As a third place. This is a community place. Everyone seems to run in to someone they know here, and the staff treat many as regulars. As some other reviewers have mentioned, the chairs aren't the most comfortable, but they have reliable WiFi, a very nice patio, and they don't seem to mind that I camp out over a single pot of tea for hours (sometimes). Unlike other places, they have quite a full menu which has often tilted in their favor when I'm looking for a place to get some work done (or write a yelp! review). The food offerings are uneven, but some are very good. For example, the zesty black bean burger is really delicious, but the bun kinda detracts from the otherwise yumminess. Because the WiFi at another local place is so excruciatingly terrible, Spirit Winds has become my go-to place in Las Cruces.

Very nice little relaxing place to read the paper, have a salad and iced-tea with your husband and very well behaved little doggie outside on the patio. The gift shop is very cool

Delicious coffee! I love the gift shop.

What I LOVE most about this place is their attention to the enviornment. On their cold beveraged cups it states they're made of corn. That is pretty much all I cared about it. The barista seemed a bit too occupied with doing nothing, so I grabbed my drink and bounced. You want to experience a great coffee place, a great cafe experience, go around the corner to Milagros (more comfotable furniture anyway).

It hurts my heart that the 2 previous reviews are only 2 stars. I love Spirit Winds for food, coffee, gifts, jewelry, and music. My mouth salivates at the thought of the Chicken Panini, a warm chicken salad made with artichokes and some kind of cheese (not sure if I ever asked what type they use but I really couldn't care less, it is so good regardless) and grilled to perfection with a side salad that is always refreshing. I love the house vinaigrette they use, nice and vinegary. Their baked goods are also very tasty, my usual order is a scone and a vanilla or hazelnut latte. They also make tiramisu, lemon bars, various cookies, cakes, quiches, stuffed croissants...oh god I want some right now! damn! On the gift side I've purchased many a birthday and/or Christmas present here. Eclectic, goofy, funny stuff. I also love their jewelry, I have several pieces that have come from here and given some as gifts. Definitely get homesick thinking about his place!

This good ol' hometown fave is always a must when trekking back through LC for a bit. Baked goods.... they're okay Drinks; coffee, tea, chai.... Absolutely! I've had nearly everything they offer and everythings' been pretty dang good. Food.... i recommend their chicken salad or veg. panini with salad on the side; the dressing is delicious! Even if you're not hungry, there's always a reason to check out the gift shop. Browsing will undoubtedly turn to buying.

The store is my favorite part about this place, I love the jewelry and knickknacks. They're bakery is pretty stellar too. The coffee is alright. I've only ever had the chips and salsa, and even though everything else on the menu sounded awesome, this was pretty average. I dunno, the employees have a type of pretension that makes me prefer Milagro.

Shop was fun. Food was OKAY.

I've had the iced coffee, lattes, berry scone (amazing), and muffins. All delish. Loved the scone especially! Cute shop, but more importantly, great customer sevice and atmosphere!

The beverages are fantastic and staff friendly and helpful. The prices for merchandise extremely reasonable and they packed it all up nicely so I could ship it home. If I lived in Cruces, this would be my daily morning stop.

Spirit Winds offers a small, healthy-ish menu and a full coffee bar. I can't speak to the coffee, but the food is just ho-hum. The seating, as another review noted, is uncomfortable unless you park yourself at an outdoor table. The service is unremarkable. Spirit Winds is better for gifts and souvenirs than for food, for sure.

The blueberry muffin was good, but not as great as the chai latte I got. The atmosphere is so colorful and welcoming. Indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of selection. I would go here every day if I lived in town.
